With your support, we were able to donate $2,400 directly to the Vietnamese American Community Center of the East Bay (VACCEB) Relief Fund. Funds raised will go directly to rebuilding and rehabbing their facilities after a devastating fire struck just days before Lunar New Year.

About VACCEB:

For over 20 years, the Vietnamese American Community Center of the East Bay (VACCEB) has been a refuge and resource for low-income, South-East Asians and other underrepresented immigrant communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. VACCEB provides a variety of support services including access to nutritional meals, senior programs, housing assistance, immigration legal and education services, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, and employment development. Our programs are designed to provide our clients and their families the support they need to become self-sufficient within a year after their arrival to the United States.

Annually, we serve over 13,500 nutritious meals to seniors and their families four days a week; handle over 1,200 case sessions from translation to advocacy for residents; educate 200+ students in ESL, Computer Literacy, and Job Preparation, conduct health-related fairs serving 1,000+ participants for prevention and wellness (screening, vaccinations, etc.), and run a weekly food bank program passing out 5000 “grocery bags”.

For the Vietnamese community, Lunar New Year is among the most important holidays of the year. I’m thrilled that we were able contribute to their recovery efforts, and so happy that many of you had flowers to usher you into the new year!

It’s quite auspicious to give and receive flowers during the Lunar New Year, with much meaning assigned to each botanical in the display. Our fundraiser arrangements featured mums (happiness), jasmine (love), kumquats (good luck and health), and forsythia (prosperity).

We wish you and your families a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2021 Year of the Ox, and hope to continue supporting our community with flowers!
